A Highlands Gathering!!

Come one and come all to a Warhammer 40k event in Ligonier PA!
On 4-24-2010 *(that's April 24th for you foul xenos spawn - you know who are) Club Snake Eyes is teaming up with The Toy Soldier Gallery to bring you a day of gaming for free, that's right, the rock bottom bargain basement price of *Free*.

The event will run from 10 am until 4:30 PM. We are shooting to run a 1250 point 3 round tournament for regular players and a 500 point 3 or 4 rounder (if time permits we'll give players the option to add the extra round) for relative newcomers. Prize support will be provided by Games Workshop. That's right, even though this event is free there will be prizes! It will be held downstairs in the Public Library Basement (which is quite nice, spacious and has plenty of tables) which is right off the center of the town circle.

If we get a decent turnout we will run both tournaments and also a starter "training table" to help teach the basics of the hobby to those who are interested in starting. We reserve the right to combine the two games (we will have spare mini's on hand and advisors for the newer players) so there should be fun for all no matter what.
To get an idea of those coming from the surrounding area we please ask that anyone thinking of attending please e-mail astro-telepathica@atlanticbb.net to let them know so we can get a count of how many tables and how much terrain to bring.

So mark your calender, plan your trip and we'll see you there!!

Apocalypse pictures

Just a few pictures from the battle, more are on the way!

The imperial side won with 6 objectives total, the surviving imperial forces are assumed KIA as the grav hook's power source at Sorensen was destroyed.  During the battle daemons breaching the warp caused major havoc among both sides.  At one point a single daemon prince took out an Imperial Baneblade, carving it apart with its daemon weapon.  The ensuing explosion destroyed multiple buildings and caused many imperial casualties.  Of the Eldar, there has been no sign...

A "propa" writeup is on its way...

Apocolypse Rules for this Saturday

All,

This Saturday marks the end of the campaign to Save Omegang's citizens from total annihilation or Burn the fields and destroy its cities.

As such there has been much work in gathering the imperial forces for one last stand at the Grav Hook in the capital hive at Sorensen. This structure is the only way off the planet at this time.  The impending warp storm has turned the sky a bloody red, lightning storms are causing Vox havoc and preventing any orbital craft from leaving the atmosphere.  In the wake of this unforeseen event Imperial forces that have not made their way safely within the cities walls of Sorensen have been given up for dead.  The gates are closed...

As for the forces of the Tau, Chaos, Necrons and Orks they have taken this moment to bring up more reinforcements for a final push.  They know the only way off of the planet before the storm reaches the system is the Grav Hook.

Rules:
2 Objectives per side
All units count as scoring
1 Stratagem per SIDE, no orbital bombardment or flank march due to
Secret Orders or Special Objectives for every commander
A group objective on each side to have at least 1 unit within 6 inches of the Grav Hook by the end of the game.
Warp Storm: Every side turn Commanders from each side roll a die and add the total and consult the chart below:

7: Warp Lightning strikes into the city causing Havoc, Controlled by that turns commander 1 Large Blast. S9 AP -.  Any model failing its armor save from this causes a Warp Spawn will appear under the control of the store owner with X wounds (X is equal to the number of wounds caused by the Lightning Strike).

Latest Apocolypse Event

A bit of a late post but we wanted to share. One of our friends, Seth, is being deployed over to the middle east.  To see him off we decided to throw him a surprise Apocalypse game.

Everything was going swell up until the last moment when a war-machine tournament was announced it looked like it would push us back a week (and into Jason's deployment).

Fortunately for us we decided to bring everything, the tables and terrain.

Before breaking into sides we gave Jason's ultramarine's a little extra kick for the game:

The forces were Chaos, Orks and Necrons Vs the combined might of the Ultramarines, Blood angels and Eldar.  We decided to bring as many superheavies as we could, we ended up with 2 Baneblades, 1 Stormlord, a Necron Pylon, Revenant Titan and Ork Stompa.

The game went quick, explosions all around including some very nasty flank march Ork units.  We ended up with a vortex grenade flying around half of the table gobbling up super-heavies. (sorry for lack of pics, we were having a grand time, blowing everything up.

Some good moments: At a certain point the Necrons took control of my Revenant with their stratagem and blew the back out of the storm lord. Revenge was vowed and heres what it looked like.  (Hint: it did not end well for the Necron Lord)

Revenant Titan Project

So this is the first time i've tried to do some tiered shading with the airbrush.  We plan on using this bad boy at Gamesday for our Super-heavy battle table.

The hope is folks can bring their own if they have it.  My loving wife got this for me at Christmas, i had no idea it was coming, hope you folks enjoy the progress

First we have the base, I took a small wooden base from a local store and added some Pomerez and a few rocks from the "random stuff" tray in my bitz box.  The Pomerez went on as a smooth paste but dried and cracked apart, i was actually glad because it gave the illusion of a torn up piece of ground. barbed wire came from a GW barbed wire set back when they still made it.

I didn't take many pictures of the construction but i must say he's harder to fit together than i had originally thought.  Most of the pictures you see on forgeworld tend to show them in the air or leaning so far forward it looks like they will tip over.  I was going for that originally and then decided it was too complicated,  Everything was cleaned and dry fit and pinned with brass or coat-hanger wire before assembly.

The Pulsars, i had to boil the top one a few times before it would straighten out:

Posing the feet, you can see the hanger wire that runs from the base thru the knee and upper leg:

I did a lot more assembly before these next shots, i pinned the spinal column and added the Torso & Jets on the top/sides:

Now to the painting, My Eldar are Craftworld Yme-Loc, so i was trying to keep to the grey/orange scheme, this works out to go great on tanks but i was not sure about a titan.  It does look like the normal resin grey, i ended up using Sea Grey on the major parts and light gray on raised parts on the front/side armor and knee-pads. For the carapace I took progressively lighter oranges from bottom to top, including the fins in the back:

Next shot is the shoulders, i really tried to use the three colors i did on the carapace as shaded going up towards the head.  I'm planning on doing the gems last, they are all imperial blue right now, trying to contrast it with the orange, will do the three layer with the dot effect, not to sure i can pull it off on all of them.

Last shot for now.  I finished the base, I may put a lighter tone on the base with the grass to brighten it up slightly, Arms have been base-coated Sea Grey.  Not sure what I'm going to do for the armor around the back of the pulsar.  Still not sure about the pulsar color either.

To do:
Paint Cockpit, Eldar Gems(argh), Lighten brown on the base, varnish the black around the base rim, Highlight/Shade the joints, Finish eyes and Helmet Front.
